   Santo & Johnny's famous "Sleepwalk" on steel guitar in generated a great LP which has become very rare on the market; luckily, this CD compiles all their best tunes on steel guitar, sometimes "bluesy " sometimes happy, including of course Sleepwalk (a major hit), Blue Moon ("velvety" smooth version), and Summertime (to me one of the best moody renditions from a great musical called Porgy /5(74).

   l have an extensive collection of Santo and Johnny CDs, because I fell in love with them in the early 60s. Dad had a test pressing of "Wish you love" and 45s of "Caravan" and "Sleep Walk", so these were my musical idols along with The Shadows, at least until The Beatles smashed onto the scene/5(82).

   Seeming more like a retrospective collection, Santo & Johnny is nearly true to its original form on LP, including cover design. Of the Santo & Johnny titles available on digital format, this one is most comprehensive, and the higher price is justified by more material, including a couple of strong demo cuts. Their classic, self-penned "Sleepwalk" opens the album, a collection of doo wop.

   SANTO & JOHNNY THE BEST THAT COULD HAPPEN. Imperial # LP Stereo LP sleeve is in original shrink (missing about 30% in front). Sleeve is VG+.
