The new production of Never Let Me Down in for the 'Loving the Aliens' box set was one of the most exciting re-issues of Bowie's back catalogue. NLMD was always a thorn in Bowie's side, he had spoken of his wish to completely re-record the album, which he felt was his worst effort: “My nadir was Never Let Me Down,” he said in /5().

David Bowie’s ninth studio album, the Bowie/Visconti/Maslin produced Young Americans, was released in the UK on this day in A top ten album in both the US (#9) and the UK (#2) it also furnished Bowie with his first ever #1 single in the shape of the Bowie/Lennon/Alomar composition, Fame.

I have some comments around Never Let Me Down After reading that they retained Bowie's vocals and re-recorded the whole LP with some of the best musicians, I thought this would mean lifting Bowie's worst album up in the clouds.

Never Let Me Down is by no means unlistenable, so Bowie devoted fans should find enough here to enjoy. On Tonight, the title track, a duet with Tina Turner, is a classic soulful song and worth the price of the album. Blue Jean is Bowie at his best with breathy vocals and a great catchy riff/5(12).

“Zeroes” shows that David Bowie can effectively, even movingly, salute his past; the rest of Never Let Me Down, though, doesn’t bode as well for Bowie’s present, or his future. Popular on.
