When that album was new, I was just thrilled for new Metallica, period. For perspective, their previous proper album before St Anger was released before or around the time you were born. I disliked St Anger for years for all the reasons people say - production values, lack of solos, drum sound, lyrics.

St Anger gets a very bad rap. Too raw for some. I think it's very good and for me it's Metallica's AC/DC Flick of the switch moment - another raw under produced album that got a bad rap on its release in St Anger is an angry album and if your going through tough times in /5(K).
